This policy explains what personal information himbodied.com (the “site”) collects, why, and what your rights are. The site is run by Himbodied, an individual trading under that name and based in Brighton, England. “We”, “us” and “our” in this policy mean Himbodied, which is responsible for your data (the “controller” under UK data protection law). You can reach us at contact@himbodied.com.

Because of what this site is, we take your privacy seriously. We don’t sell your personal information.

1. What we collect and why

  • Visiting the site. Your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view are logged by our hosting provider and by site analytics. We use this to keep the site secure and working and to understand which pages are popular.
  • Age gate. When you confirm you are 18 or over, a small cookie remembers that so you aren’t asked on every page.
  • Accounts and memberships. If you register or join, we collect your name or username, email address and membership details, plus your password in encrypted form. We use these to run your account and give you access to member content.
  • Payments and donations. Payments are made by logged-in members and processed by PayPal. We receive confirmation of the payment, your name and email address and the amount. We never see or store your card or bank details.
  • Contact and enquiry forms. If you write to us, we keep what you send so we can reply.
  • Guest submissions. If you submit photos, video or words through the “Be Featured” form, we collect those, your name or handle, your email address, and any Instagram or X username you choose to add. Submissions can include images of you. We use them to review and, if we accept them, publish your submission as described in the Terms of Use.
  • Models in our photographs. When someone is photographed for the site, we ask for their legal name, date of birth, email address, a photo of their ID (and sometimes a selfie holding it) and a signed record of what they agree to. We use this only to confirm that everyone shown is an adult who agreed to the photos being published, as the law and our payment providers require. It is never published. ID photos are removed from the website once they are copied to secure offline storage.
  • Comments. If comments are open, we collect the name, email and IP address you enter, and comments are checked by a spam filter.
  • Emails. If you sign up for emails, through a form, a pop-up or at checkout, we keep your email address to send you updates. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

2. Our legal basis

Under UK data protection law we rely on: your contract with us (running your account and membership, taking payment); your consent (guest submissions and email updates, which you can withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (security, spam prevention and basic analytics); and legal obligations (such as keeping payment and tax records).

3. Cookies

A small set of essential cookies keeps the site working: they remember that you passed the age gate, keep you logged in, hold any shopping basket, and remember your cookie choice. These are always on.

Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) are only used if you press Accept on the cookie banner. If you choose Essential only, analytics stays off. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

4. Who we share it with

We only share information with services that help us run the site, and only what they need:

  • our web hosting provider (Hostinger);
  • PayPal, which processes payments;
  • an email service (Omnisend), if you sign up for emails;
  • Google Analytics, for anonymous usage statistics, but only if you accept analytics cookies;
  • a spam-filtering service (Akismet); and
  • the authorities, if the law requires it.

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where information is sent abroad, we rely on the safeguards those companies provide under UK data protection law.

5. How long we keep it

  • Account details: while your account is open, then for a short time afterwards unless we need to keep something by law.
  • Payment records: for as long as tax law requires, usually around six years.
  • Messages you send us: as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.
  • Guest submissions: for as long as they are published, or until you ask us to remove them.
  • Model records (ID and consent): for as long as any photograph of that person is published, and for up to seven years afterwards, so we can show the photos were made with consent.
  • Email sign-ups: until you unsubscribe.

6. Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format. You can also object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. To do any of these, email contact@himbodied.com. We’ll reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please email contact@himbodied.com first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

7. Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as secure hosting and encrypted passwords, but no website can be completely secure.

8. Under 18s

The site is for adults only. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think someone under 18 has given us information, please email us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top.
